In the late nineteenth century, aroundin New York CityCharles Daly and August Shoverling began a business importing firearms into the United States, primarily from the city of Suhl in what was then Prussia. I appreciate it! Posted: Mon Dec 01, am. I am curious about the SxS myself. It was a superb gun for the price. I thought the wood and metal finish and fit was very good. Much better than the other cheaper guns I have seen Bakil, Stoger, low grade Verona's, Very shallow light action. My guess is that the SxS might be one of the real sleeper bargins in the gun bus.

Hay guys Since then I got a nice Beretta and a benelli both fantastic. Whatever you get Posted: Wed Jan 28, am. Was it the series II? What model? I thought the Italian Sabatti's were doing pretty well for CD and their problems were with the Turkish and some of the Spanish guns, auto's mostly. I know of one person who had a problem with an auto.

Sent it in and it was back, quick and fixed. Just curious. Regards BB. Posted: Wed Jan 28, pm. Superior II Sporting, I must say, as long as it was shooting it was fine, I did have a complaint the first day I got the gun, Not a big deal but I think it reflects a lack of care that I would expect to see at a gun makers shop. The O and U marks that are supposed to be to the left and right of the selector so you know which barrell you are shooting first are missing.

As for the " I keep asking if any one looked at the gun if they have an opinion as to what went wrong etcCharles Daly is a brand of firearms licensed to Chiappa Firearms located in Italy. It used to be a firearms manufacturer and importer, located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvaniain the United States.

In Shoverling and Daly were joined by a third partner named Joseph Gales, and the company began doing business as Shoverling, Daly and Gales, before settling simply on the name Charles Daly.

The new owners continued the tradition of importing firearms and marketing them with the Charles Daly name until the late s, when the company was sold to the Walzer family, which owned Sloan's Sporting Goods in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Then later when the 3rd and 4th type came along, if there is an illustrated parts listing, no one has found it. The 4th type used coil springs for the mainsprings, ejector hammers and the top lever springs. These coil springs proved quite a bit more reliable. The short tail rests on the top lever shaft, while the longer notched tail snaps behind the RH receiver machining for the RH hammer.

We also have seen guns that had broken top levers that were retrofitted with later top lever springs, or even retrofitted with complete coil springs. Wisner's can not warrantee these mainsprings if you use pliers and screwdrivers, butcher and break them by trying to install them in a wrong position, then tell us we make defective parts. It is our guess that this company picked up some guns after Charles Daly stopped importing and before Browning got rolling.

Or that these Miroku marked guns were what was left over at this change-over and this was a method of disposing of them.

Choke identification will be found as small stars and dashes stamped on the LH side of the rear of the barrels near the extractors, covered up by the receiver when the barrels are closed. This system is similar to the current Browning Citori firearms made by Miroku with the exception of the skeet choking. The top lever spring peg uses a cross pin as a retainer.

The 12 and 20 ga. TYPE 1 shown above. It was about 1. The other shorter side of this Vee, is about. TYPE 3 shown above. There also appears to be a Transition gun using the type 3 top lever spring but has coil springs for hammer and ejector hammers. In this picture illustration of the forearm below, the type 4 is on top, you can see the coil spring for the RH side. You will also notice that this forearm has the later finger grooves on the top edge of the wood.

The bottom illustration is for the type 1 thru type 3 and the Vee springs are buried under the forearm iron and in the wood. On the right are the forearm iron assemblies removed from the wood. On the above picture, the Mono Blocks and rods are different. The frames also have different cut outs to match the corresponding rods. The assumption is that the type 1 top lever spring probably coincided with the early round receiving rod.

The width of the frame is 1.The barrels also feature extractors and interchangeable chokes. These Field II shotguns are reliable companions for taking down birds of the feathered or clay varieties. Of the two 28" barrels, the top features a full choke, and the bottom has an improved modified choke. The top barrel also features a ventilated rib, and a bead front sight to aid in quick target acquisition.

The Field Hunter's blued steel frame and barrels are handsomely complimented by high gloss walnut furniture. This wood is checkered at the grip and forend to ensure users have a firm grasp on this shotgun with each blast fired.
